Declutter and Organize Your Bedroom

Welcome to Week 3 of the Declutter and Simplicity Challenge! ~

How to Declutter and Simplify Your Bedroom

  1. Start with a Clean Slate

    • Remove everything from surfaces (nightstands, dressers, shelves).

    • Strip the bed and clear the floor.

  2. Sort Your Belongings

    • Make three piles: Keep, Donate/Sell, and Discard.

    • Be honest—if you haven’t used or worn something in the past year, consider letting it go.

  3. Organize Your Closet

    • Hang only what you wear regularly.

    • Use bins or baskets for accessories and shoes.

    • Store out-of-season clothes elsewhere if possible.

  4. Minimize Furniture

    • Keep only essential furniture: bed, nightstand, dresser.

    • Remove extra chairs, tables, or unused pieces.

  5. Clear Surfaces

    • Limit nightstand items to essentials (lamp, book, alarm clock).

    • Keep dressers and shelves tidy with minimal decor.

  6. Under-Bed Storage

    • Use storage bins for items like extra bedding or off-season clothing.

    • Avoid using this space as a catch-all for clutter.

  7. Simplify Decor

    • Choose a calming color palette.

    • Hang only a few meaningful pieces of art or photos.

    • Use matching or coordinated bedding for a cohesive look.

  8. Daily Habits

    • Make your bed every morning.

    • Put away clothes and items daily to prevent buildup.
