How to Spark Joy This Summer!~
Happy Summer friends!~
As we enter the Summer season, it presents an excellent opportunity to slow down, take a moment to pause, and appreciate everything that this time of year has to offer.
What are some of your cherished Summer memories? For me, they include chasing waterfalls, embarking on hiking adventures, enjoying camping trips, strolling along the beach, and time with family/friends.
This upcoming Summer season is an ideal time to unwind, relax, and escape the hustle and bustle that life often brings.
Last weekend, I took a trip away from the city to visit a cabin owned by my family near the coast.
There is no internet, no phone, and social media is only accessible if I venture into town. I absolutely love it. It provides a wonderful environment to relax, sit by the river, take a nap, and savor delicious meals with family.
Most of the time when I visit, I make a trip into town for a hike, enjoy a walk along the beach, and indulge in coffee from a local café. On Sundays, I take pleasure in attending the local church service. The chairs are filled with friendly and welcoming locals who greet me.
Summer is great to bask in the warmth of the sun, enjoy the birds chirping and the leaves rustling gently in the breeze.
Take Time to Slow Down and Rest
At times, I find it challenging to slow down. I tend to be someone who prefers to remain productive and busy.
One effective way to escape the noise and chaos of the world is by taking breaks from the phone, the news, and especially social media. While phones can be incredibly useful in life, they can also serve as a significant distraction from what is genuinely joyful, enjoyable, and relaxing. One of my favorite books is from John Mark Cover, “The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry.”
Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30
Perhaps you can relate and wish to fully embrace all that Summer has to offer—the adventures, the scents, the flavors, and all the beauty.
Which places would you like to visit? Are there certain individuals you wish to reconnect with?
I encourage you to take a notepad, a journal, or any writing medium and start creating your own Summer bucket list.
